Long established main contractor, Hall Construction Group, have recently awarded Westdale a £600k external wall insulation contract in Goole.
The contract, which runs throughout the summer, will see over 100 homes in and around Goole and Howden brought into the realm of realistic energy consumption.
Lee Bishop, Operations Director at Westdale, said: “This contract is special in a number of ways. Firstly, it shows that whilst we are diversifying into new builds and other areas within the industry we are still committed to being the UK’s premier solid wall insulation installer. Secondly, it demonstrates our flexibility and open-minded approach to working with a broad range of clients. Finally, the Client, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, are so far panning out to be incredibly supportive towards both their contracting companies and their tenants, both in specification and in formalities. All being well, this could be the makings of a great working relationship for the future”.
The product specified by East Riding of Yorkshire Council is a 120mm phenolic foam insulation board. This far exceeds the specification of most local authorities and as a direct result will give treated stock ‘U’ values of circa 0.15W/m2K. As an indication of just how good the specification is, typical ‘U’ values of untreated solid walled properties are around 2.1W/m2K and those of treated properties under the Green Deal/ECO specification are typically 0.30W/m2K.
