The CESP scheme at Hexthorpe, Doncaster allowed Westdale to carry out a major external transformation of an entire area of traditional terraced housing. On this scheme, Westdale worked closely with Doncaster MBC to deliver approximately 200 of the properties within a three month period.
The finish applied to the housing is Westdale's very own patented finish 'MultiRend'. This has allowed the area to receive a full External Wall Insulation system coupled with a finish that is in keeping with the surrounding area and similar to the original brick façades.
The improvements resulted in a dramatic rise in property prices along with enhanced energy efficiency. Home owners and tenants now take pride in their homes and are not afraid to keep warm during the winter.
A resident from the area, Mr. Davis, said, "We're delighted because the house is both warmer and quieter. We noticed the difference as soon as the work was completed and we now don't need the heating on anywhere near as often. The work has totally transformed the front and the back of the property and it's hidden away all the unsightly cables that used to be visible."
On the 26th October 2012, Rosie Winterton, MP for Doncaster Central, visited Hexthorpe to see Westdale in action and to meet Mr and Mrs Davis, who have lived in their Mutual Street home for the past 27 years. Rosie made a blog post about the scheme here.
Rosie said, "Rising energy prices are a major worry for many people in Doncaster. While these worries aren't going away, the most sustainable way to cope is by making homes more energy efficient. The improvements to the Davis's homes will make an enormous difference to their level of comfort - and crucially the added peace of mind that they can afford to warm all year round."
Rosie then added, "This programme of work will cut costs for hundreds of households whilst also creating jobs in and around Doncaster."
