On Friday 1 September, Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council (NBBC), working in partnership with Westdale Services Ltd, celebrated the successful completion and handover of the 100th property in its ongoing investment programme.
Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council appointed Westdale to deliver their multi-faceted thermal investment programme in the Kingswood estate of Nuneaton, consisting of asbestos removal, glazing & doors, external wall insulation, roofing works, soffits, fascias, rainwater goods, internal insulation & re-plastering works, totalling £2.35 million.
Westdale’s nationally-recognised thermal efficiency investment programmes projects have played a vital role in tackling fuel poverty by helping residents live in warmer homes and save money on their energy bills, as well as providing long-term solutions for the UK’s least energy efficient housing stock – and saving significant quantities of carbon dioxide emissions in the process.
Cllr Jackson, the Council’s portfolio holder for Housing and Communities said: “The handover of the 100th property heralds yet another exciting milestone in our on-going improvement programme and our partnership with Westdale.
”This is one of the most significant programme of improvements the Council has undertaken, with our properties receiving a radical makeover and tenants seeing a significant fall in their energy bills. ”I’m delighted with the progress that’s been made.”
Proud residents, Mr & Mrs Watson, said: “The guys from Westdale were wonderful and worked tirelessly to improve our house. A project like this takes time – but the results are well worth it. I cannot compliment them enough. I feel I can really enjoy my retirement now.”
Adrian Bishop – Westdale’s Divisional Director commented: “I’m delighted that this refurbishment programme is being delivered so efficiently. Our installation teams have really enjoyed getting to know the residents of Nuneaton. Whilst we have worked hard to minimise the disruption to tenants, without exception, they have all been so accommodating to our teams, and I’m sure they will all be looking forward to reduced heating bills, as well as a more cosy home this coming winter. Given the numerous tradespeople involved, this has been a challenging programme to deliver, and we’re all so pleased with the results”.
Westdale Services Ltd are due to complete works to the remaining 58 properties before the onset of inclement weather late this autumn.
