Last year, Westdale delivered a very successful regeneration project in five villages in N.E Derbyshire.
Westdale Services Ltd were appointed by Rykneld Homes Ltd to project-manage and deliver a scheme of 328 REEMA properties. The scheme also made provision for the replacement of 200 new roofs, and 150 new glazing systems. As prime contractors, Westdale coordinated the delivery programme, which was completed in a challenging 7 month period, ahead of time and on budget. In order to keep disruption to a minimum, Westdale completed External Wall Insulation to >20 properties per week, (each one taking less than 10 working days from start to finish) and we worked closely with the client and their Tenant Liaison team to ensure residents were kept fully briefed of the installation programme.
As Green Deal Providers, the offer was able to be extended to a further 60 “right-to-buy” owner-occupiers; many of whom were equally keen to take part in the scheme. The regeneration programme was actually based in a number of separate estates. Given the significant number of contractors on site, the narrow streetscene, and local bus routes, traffic management was a priority focus. This was effectively managed using ‘just-in-time deliveries, coordination of contractors, considerate contractor parking and proactive engagement with local schools.
The scheme saw very high levels of both resident and client satisfaction alike, resulting in our successful award of the successive phase of regeneration in the nearby village of Renishaw in 2016.
We have just mobilised on-site. The community engagement piece is complete, and we are starting work on the next phase of works in the village of Renishaw. Our Tenant Liaison Office has been set up, and we are looking forward to improving these very cold and thermally inefficient homes.
