Westdale - An Introduction.
Formed in 2001 as Westdale External Insulations Ltd.
Westdale founders Malcolm
Kitching and Allan Bishop have many years of experience working together, they had
previously worked together on many external wall insulation decorative rendering
projects in the past spanning over 20 years.
Westdale was formed primarily as an external wall insulation and render contractor
based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire and has grown and developed into the modern
façade and building company it is today.
Westdales annual turnover has grown from the first yearly trading figures year on
year, the growth has been solid and sustained.
Westdales policy of constant reinvestment has enabled the purchase of our business
premises in Askern, Doncaster where Westdale has been able to further concentrate
on its expansion plans.
The Askern facility has enabled Westdale to take direct large bulk deliveries of
materials which in turn helped our effectiveness and competitiveness in the current
economic climate.
We have progressed from a small specialised contractor to working directly for local
authorities, major housing associations and the nations largest contractors on housing
stock refurbishment projects to Decent Homes specifications.
Other further advancements have been made in the lightweight modern facade
systems. Westdale has worked closely with system designers on several projects that
utilise this modern building technique, Westdale can work on all aspects of lightweight
facade systems from concept, design & specifications, structural calculations and
installation.
Westdale also has stayed true to its roots with a large proportion of it`s annual turn
over gained in external wall insulation, most noticeable the award winning LMH
project where Westdale have worked closely with LMH (Liverpool Mutual Homes),
LHT (Liverpool Housing Trust), Tweeds Consulting and Bramall Construction on
Structherm Structural Cage system to over 550 properties on the Daneville Estate in
Liverpool. Within a year this project has seen a vast estate of defective housing stock
that had a waiting list to leave brought up to date, structurally sound and aesthetically
pleasing and now has for the first time in 20 years a waiting list to get on to the estate.
At its production height Westdale opened and completed 30 properties a week on
the LMH project and has employed well over 100 specialist personnel just on the
external project at Liverpool.
The LMH project has gained national recognition by winning two prestigious awards
namely (Housing Excellence Awards 2009 (Reducing Carbon) & (Homes & Communities Academy Awards 2009), Internationally there has been much interest
from overseas countries such as Japan and Germany who are looking at ways to bring
their defective housing stock up to date and recognise the LMH project as a true
success.
As you can see Westdale has now grown into one of the leading external wall insulation
and Façade contractor in the country.
Westdale also have a land bank and property portfolio to add to their EWI & Façade
Division. We have the intention to increase our property development well into the
future as a separate division of Westdale.
